Relationship Rejection

One painful lesson I have learned throughout life is sometimes people you want in your life might not always want you to be in theirs. There are some people you encounter that there might be something you like about them, something you admire. You are drawn to them for some reason. Unfortunately, not everyone that you feel a connection with will reciprocate that feeling. Watch for signs such as not receiving a return text or phone call, being repeatedly turned down when you invite someone to dinner or an event. When this happens, it is hard not to feel hurt, rejected, and want to give up on building social connections. The pain is real! But you do not have to live in the pain of rejection. It is not always about you or what you may or may not have to offer them. Some people are not meant to build meaningful relationships with each other. Some people do not know how to build strong, lasting, and meaningful relationships. And sometimes people have met the maximum of people they can have in their inner circle. That is not your fault. When rejection happens, remember, you are enough for you! Do not give up! Keep working on those friendship skills. You could try different activities, join new social interest groups, seek out other social circles. Eventually, you will meet the people you are meant to be with. Until then, enjoy being with yourself, connecting with who you are, becoming a better you! I find a lot of comfort in my cats when I feel I do not have the human connection I need. Putting your energy into a hobby or a new type of exercise can be very fulfilling. Relationships can be very difficult. Building a strong relationship takes time and needs equal effort from both people involved. Try not to think that you have wasted your energy trying to form a friendship with someone who is not responding in kind. Remember that you tried, and someday they might look back on your kindness and wish they had taken the time to connect with you and learned all of your unique qualities. You will be worth it to someone!

Stay True!
