Happy Monday! I’ve been traveling this week so I’m a little late on my post, but better late than never. When I was in grad school, getting my Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, we learned several different theories. One theory I always liked and have referred to many times throughout my career is Krumboltz Theory of Chance Happenstance. In short, John Krumboltz believed that life events that were not predicted can change, redirect, or “shape” your career path. I am currently in the process of making big changes in life. My situation is definitely not turning out how I had planned.
My physical health started to deteriorate over the last few months. I recognized how much I needed a change of environment to improve my physical and mental health. Things seem to be happening a lot faster than I could have ever realized too!
I also did not expect to have to go back to school for more graduate hours to obtain my counseling license in another state. But this gives me the opportunity to further my life coaching career and also allows me the opportunity to go back and work with people with disabilities again.
In the past week as I have been looking into these opportunities, I have felt a sense of being renewed. My physical pains have lessened. I am definitely keeping an open mind and will do my best to embrace change.
Here is what I learned from this wonderful theory: be open-minded and embrace the possibility of redirection, be curious about opportunities, utilize people in your network, & be flexible. If you are going through something similar in life and would like some guidance, please reach out to me. It is much easier to go through major life changes when you have support.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
Stay True! :-)
